PROBLEM
The customer wanted to do long-term preservation of multiple flexible riser hoses stored outside. The problem was that the outer rubber sheathing is very vulnerable to UV exposure. Up to this point, they had been using a tar-paulin to protect the outsides and silica gel to protect the internal metal “carcass” of each riser. This method was very inefficient because it required frequent replacement of the protective materials.
APPLICATION
After getting to know the field conditions and the goal of the customer, PT. Pentra offered VpCI®-337 as a substitute for silica gel and MilCorr® VpCI® Shrink Film as a substi-tute for tarpaulins (in addition to inhibiting corrosion on metal components, MilCorr® VpCI® Shrink Film has UV blocking capabilities to protect the rubber sheath). The ris-ers were fogged internally with VpCI®-337, wrapped in MilCorr® VpCI® Shrink Film, and stored on outdoor racks.
